How we handle data

Littlewan · last updated 29 October 2026

The short version

We count how the books are used, so we know which stories children enjoy and where they lose interest. We never collect anything that identifies your child or you.

What we count

These are added up into totals, such as “Lola was opened 40 times this week.”

Feedback you send

If you fill in the feedback form, we keep your answers: the rating, the problems and wishes you tick, your child’s age range and the book (if you choose them), what you type in the comment box, the rough type of device, and the date. The form doesn’t ask for names or contact details, so please don’t type them in the comment box. Only the person who runs Littlewan can read feedback, and it’s used only to fix problems and decide what to make next.

What we never collect

Like every website, our host briefly handles your device’s internet address to deliver the pages. We don’t store it with the reading counts.

Littlewan has no ads, and no other companies’ tracking tools run on it. The site’s fonts are stored on Littlewan itself, so opening a book doesn’t contact any other website.

Where it’s kept

The totals are stored with our website host, Netlify, and only the person who runs Littlewan can see them.

Saved on your device

Your device keeps a few things so the books work well: the page your child reached, the word-size setting, any books you saved for offline reading, and a short list of reading counts waiting to be sent if you’re offline. You can remove all of this by clearing the website data for Littlewan in your browser settings.

Turning counting off

If your browser has “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” turned on, Littlewan sends nothing at all.
